Another great event organised by 4ya ww2 team . I survived the whole thing , except the last 60 seconds lol. Great fights all . Pretty raw vr capture here , I also had some beer so there’s that too lol.
rebrand intro video
all the videos are still there if anyone wants to watch them ( 😉 ), hopefully have some steady relaxed content coming through on a variety of games – although I have been enjoying dcs again lately . S!
vanguard Normandy 1944 – Livestream ( this game needs , no … deserves players so badly !!)
so had a blast over on vanguard normandy 1944 public test online , sadly no players apart from a dev but we had a blast – I really hope this game gains some traction as it really deserves it – basic enough to just go on and have a blast but if the servers were well populated this game would be the dogs proverbials … if you buy it , be prepared for quiet servers preventing play unless minimum numbers met ( devs please sort this out ) but when you do get in its totally worth it , a real gem of a ww2 game . And for te price of a fe coffees or one Dublin pint ( lol ) its a total bargain…. A+++ recommended .
This game needs more attention – its excellent – a bargain , and needs players … its…..”Vanguard: Normandy 1944″…
so this excellent game has been around a while , when you can actually get onto a server that has people on it its a great experience – but therein lies the problem , no one at all seems to play this title . But why ?It focuses on realistic maps , realistic loadouts and tactics . the graphics and general atmosphere are fantastic , the entry price is a mere 11 gbp and all in all the experience is very solid , and all this from a small studio ( this title launched on kickstarter on which I was a backer ) . I love postscriptum , I love Hell let loose , arma3 , company of heros , dcs ww2 , il2 sturmovik , etc and this title in my opinion thoroughly deserves a place amongst these titles , albeit on a lesser scale . The devs are actively developing this title and the only thing it needs now are players , lots and lots of players 😉
Worth a look folks , you can thank me later 🙂

Mission Briefing Video test 02
so , spent a bit more time today having a tweak at the mission briefing videos and seeing what works. Adding mission specific flight plans here for a large multiplayer multi mission server isnt feasible so I’ve decided to keep the maps generic but add real images of the targets as the narrator mentions them to add some depth to the missions realism. Feel free to add comments here on on youtube of any feedback god or bad , the laptop im working on was smoking a bit due to the amount of effects at play here ( albeit subtle effects , making things look old does take a bit of effort 😉 cheers. Walsh.

Mission briefing Demo video 1
when virtual flying motivation is low ( as it is now ) I like to mess about with ideas I’ve had on the back burner for a while. This one is in the theme of a call of duty / medal of honor style briefing room in a Quonset hut – the briefing audio is by a text to speech app so it is a bit janky but very promising in my opinion – not sure if there is a demand from the community for nything like this but it was fun to do either way . cheers.
Letters from the front – 18.07.44 Convoy Escort NW Lehavre
Love this anti bomber / Shipping Convoy protection mission over on 4ya ww2 DCS multiplayer server , Slapbladder took the lead and we had a good charge at it … we returned after this mishap to finish them off , we both ended up in the drink that time too but only one bomber got through and the convoy proceeded to safety intact. Great stuff .

Local History – Langford Lodge , Northern ireland. Base Air Depot No. 3, United States Army Air Force Station 597
Walsh here , being Northern Irish and having an interest in the war years, I had no idea there would be so much facinating history of the period in my local vicinity .
Today my featured piece of local history is a reasonably local ( 20 miles away ) airfield that served an important function for allied bombers before heading off to the strategic bombing campaign in the ETO . Langford lodge . Finding out my grandfather was there as a civilian contractor was an added bonus.
Its always amazing finding out you have a connection to these major moments in history.
Please enjoy this excellent article from wartime NI.
Combatflite – initial thoughts
Hi all , I recently trialled the dcs related software “combat flite ” , a flight planning tool ( and more ) for dcs .
Initial tests seem very promising indeed , running on an old laptop with discreet graphics only and it runs pretty well , even with mission of up to 800 units. Some of the more powerful features such as line of sight calculation from proposed radar sights take a moment or two but give very useful results . The export to kneeboard function is quite good although it takes some fettling , I have not tried its export to dcs features yet but it does appear to facilitate mission edits and export to.miz format amongst a range of other filetypes.
So short term initial tests look good , hopefully some more testing will lead to me figuring out some more useful features and some fuel calculations are coming in an upcoming updates , this will be very useful for those longer warbird raids.
Cheers all , feel free to check it out here https://www.combatflite.com/ , this post is not sponsored and I’m sharing my honest initial experience of this software , so far , so good 🙂
I havent bought it yet but may do so shortly , cheers.

DZ Normandy …
Another excellent and highly recommended video shared by Zenos warbirds on youtube – check it out here , it really adds some great detail about the thetre in which we fly over Normandy 1944 in DCS .
